No mundo, um trabalhador morre por acidente de trabalho ou doença laboral a cada 15 segundos. De 2012 a 2020, 21.467 desses profissionais eram brasileiros — o que representa uma taxa de 6 óbitos a cada 100 mil empregos formais nesse período, aponta o Observatório de Segurança e Saúde no Trabalho, elaborado pelo Ministério Público do Trabalho (MPT) e a Organização Internacional do Trabalho (OIT).
Entre os países do G20, o Brasil ocupa a segunda colocação em mortalidade no trabalho, apenas atrás do México (primeiro colocado), com 8 óbitos a cada 100 mil vínculos de emprego entre 2002 e 2020.
As menores taxas de mortalidade foram registradas no Japão (1,4 a cada 100 mil), Canadá (1,9 a cada 100 mil) e, entre os países da América do Sul, a Argentina (3,7 mortes a cada 100 mil trabalhadores).
Em oito anos, foram registrados no Brasil 5,6 milhões de doenças e acidentes de trabalho, que geraram um gasto previdenciário que ultrapassa R$ 100 bilhões.
Apenas no ano passado, por conta da Covid-19, o total de auxílios-doença por transtornos psicológicos, como depressão e ansiedade, chegou a 289 mil — um aumento de 30% em relação a 2019, quando foram registrados 224 mil.
“Estima-se que doenças e acidentes do trabalho produzam a perda de 4% do PIB global a cada ano. No caso do Brasil, esse percentual corresponde a aproximadamente R$ 300 bilhões, considerando o PIB de 2020”, afirmou Luís Fabiano de Assis, procurador do MPT e cientista de dados.
Entre as ocupações mais informadas nos registros estão: técnicos de enfermagem (9%), faxineiros (5%), auxiliares de escritório (3%), vigilantes (3%), vendedores de comércio varejista (3%) e alimentadores de linha de produção (3%).
“O setor de saúde sempre foi um dos que mais notificou os órgãos públicos sobre acidentes de trabalho”, explicou Márcia Kamei Lopez Aliaga, titular da Coordenadoria Nacional de Defesa do Meio Ambiente de Trabalho, do MPT. Na avaliação da procuradora, há setores que podem ter grande relevância em acidentes de trabalho, mas podem não ter divulgado os dados corretamente.
Na série histórica de 2012 a 2019, a maior parte dos acidentes foram ocasionados pela operação de máquinas e equipamentos (15%). Em 2020, esse percentual aumentou para 18%.
